Joseph Sirosh, CVP Data Platform

Dr. Joseph Sirosh is the Corporate Vice President of the Data Group, leading Microsoft’s Database, Big Data and Machine Learning products. Joseph joined Microsoft in fall 2013 from Amazon.com Inc. where he was most recently the vice president for the Global Inventory Platform, responsible for the science and software behind Amazon’s supply chain and order fulfillment systems, as well as the central Machine Learning group, which he built and led. Joseph holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin and a B. Tech. in Computer Science & Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Chennai.

James Philips, CVP Business Intelligence

James Phillips is a corporate vice president and the general manager of Microsoft’s business applications, platform, and intelligence (BAPI) organization with over 2,500 team members across the globe. His teams build and operate a wide range of products and services contributing billions of dollars in revenue annually. They include Azure App Service, PowerApps, Microsoft Flow, Azure Portal, the Dynamics ERP family of products (AX, NAV, GP and SL) and Microsoft's business intelligence product line including Power BI, Power BI Desktop, Power BI Mobile (iOS, Android and Windows apps) and SQL Server Reporting and Analysis services.

Rimma Nehme, TA, DG

Rimma Nehme is a TA in Data Group at Microsoft. Previously, she was a Principal Software Engineer in Microsoft Jim Gray Systems Lab, where she jump-started Polybase technology bridging the worlds of relational data and Big Data. Over the past 15 years, she has worked in Microsoft Research, EMC Corporation and in Microsoft product teams on numerous database technologies and platforms including SQL Server, SQL Data Warehouse, focusing on statistics, query optimization and approximate query processing. Rimma holds a PhD in Computer Science from Purdue University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Herain Oberoi, Sr Director Product Mktg

Herain is the Sr. Director of Product Marketing for Microsoft’s Advanced Analytics products and solutions including Cortana Intelligence Suite, Microsoft R Server and SQL Server R Services. In his prior roles at Microsoft Herain has led product management and marketing for Microsoft’s Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing and Big Data initiatives. Prior to Microsoft, Herain was a starting employee of ‘The Theory Center’, a Boston based startup for enterprise Java components and was later acquired by BEA Systems. At BEA Systems, Herain held solutions architect and product marketing roles to launch BEA’s WebLogic Platform, Portal and Enterprise Information Integration products. Herain has a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and an M.B.A from Cornell University. He lives in Redmond where he enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 children.
